wow I've been busy

Hey y'all. Midterms have had me so busy. I've been doing just about everything other than posting on here. I apologize. Here was my traveling day outfit:

It was a long drive

We got to Charleston today around 3:30 and looked around a bit. We didn't venture out too far. We did find a nice restaurant to eat late lunch/early early dinner and get a drink. I had curried chicken salad and it was very very very good. Well, when you're starving everything is very very very good. We got to our hostel around 6 and since then have not moved. We are all exhausted. I'll probably go to bed around 8 or 9. Tomorrow should be pretty fun. We'll be looking around downtown some more. I want to stop by the big art museum here. I like art.

Since it's Friday I'll post the likes and dislikes:

Likes:
1. Traveling to new cities with only friends. Very different than traveling with parents.
2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Darling
3. Italian. I like it a lot.

Dislikes:
1. Olympics are done. Wah!!
2. Being afraid to ask people for things
3. After this week I will be so broke

There ya have it. I don't know how many times this week I'll get to post. At the end of my trip I'll post an overview. It will be fun.

Until next time,

Caroline

nicer weather

These past two weeks have gone from extremely cold to extremely nice. It's killing me because the weather app on my phone says we're going to go back to those polar vortex weather temperatures soon. I just can't take it anymore! While the weather has been very nice it has let me wear only one or two layers instead of my usual 17. That's probably what I'm looking forward to most in Charleston. That and the food. Everything is about sorted out, I just need to call the hostel tomorrow and confirm a few things. My first big girl trip in t-minus 4 days (almost 3!).

Nicer weather down south means I don't need to pack my bean boots, sweaters, scarves, hats, none of that stuff! Instead I can wear light jackets, flats, and nicer weather clothes. Maybe a dress, oooooh ahhhhh! Exciting things coming up in the life of me.

I don't have much more to post about. I have to either choose to study more or go to bed. I think I know how this is gonna pan out.

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

things I need to accomplish this week

Next week is Spring Break so naturally all of my professors decided to schedule tests and papers for this week. I'm going to write down day-by-day what I need to do so I can get it all done and be ready for my trip to Charleston. Here goes:

Tonight: Finish reading Tinkers. Look over more Italian.

Monday: Go to class. Take Italian quiz (ace Italian quiz). Go buy new English book and a few bluebooks from the bookstore. Fill out time sheet and take time sheets to financial aid. Go to the gym. Take half shower. Begin studying for either test on Thursday. Start English paper due Wednesday. Eat meals somewhere in there. Post on TLS. Phew.

Tuesday: Go to class. Run hospital hill. Go to work. Read English book. Study for either test I began to study for Monday. Start studying for other test. Take a shower. Finish English paper due Wednesday (or keep working). Do Italian homework. Eat something. Post on TLS.

Wednesday: Finish English paper. Go to class. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Study again for both tests. Go to the gym. Take a half shower. Eat. Go to my roommate's performing arts club performance. Read English book. Study more. Start packing. Post on TLS.

Thursday: Go to class (or don't to study). Run. Take first test. Go to library to keep studying for other test. Eat. Take second exam. Go to basketball game? Pack pack pack. Post on TLS. Sleep.

Friday: Leave for Charleston!

That's pretty much everything I have to do this week. Well everything I need to remember to do. It's gonna be tough but next week will be glorious and relaxing. I can't wait. I really can't.

Until next time,

Caroline

just another Saturday in the gallery

I'm sitting in the gallery, again. This is the third time in two days I've been here. We now have a senior exhibition where art studio seniors create works to be put on display and judged? I'm not so sure about the second part. The reason I was here three times in two days is because of the theatre shows that go on in the same building. We are actually right across the hall from the theatre. I cannot tell you how many times people walk over to me sitting in the gallery asking if they can buy theatre tickets from me. If you could see how the gallery is situated near the box office you'd probably laugh. It is a little ridiculous. I don't understand how people's minds work.

By May I want to actually have gone to a show here. I've listened to the first half of so many shows but I've never actually sat in the theatre to watch one. That is definitely on my senior bucket list. That and go on the roof of another building. I did that when I was a freshman and then never again. Another thing I think I will be able to cross off my list later today. I'm really excited. Hopefully my roommate will want to go. My friend and I made plans to go downtown for a happy hour somewhere but then we got a much better idea. More on that later.

I think for sure my roommate is going to take me to Ulta and Target to get things for our upcoming trip. I really need sunglasses and Target is the perfect place to get them because I cannot have nice sunglasses. I break them too easily or lose them. I had three pairs during my fall semester. I have zero pairs now. Oops. I want to go to Ulta because I've got my eye on a Mario Badescu rosewater toner. I think it would be a good addition to my face washing routine and it's only $7.

There's nothing else to report. It will be a busy day. If there are any good pictures I'll post them tomorrow.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

a few things

It's finally the end of the week. We just had the first whole week of school in a while. It's tiring. I have been so spoiled by these snow days. I've also been spoiled by the Olympics. I'm gonna miss primetime when it's over. I'm going to miss it for reasons I won't state on here. It's not nice. It's probably not what you think. You probably aren't thinking anything. You probably aren't reading this. I'm rambling. My roommates are going to a concert tonight and I'm working in the gallery tonight during the theatre show so it will be a quiet one for my apartment. My friend invited me out with her and some of my other friends but I haven't decided if I want to do anything. My face feels tired. Does that happen to anyone else? It's not just my eyelids that feel heavy but it's my whole face. Am I getting enough sleep? Maybe I should work on that.

What I'm probably looking forward to the most this weekend will be alone time. I am in major need of alone time. Maybe I'll actually get out and run for awhile. Kill two birds with one stone.

Here are the likes and dislikes of the week:

Likes:
1. Olympics, will be a dislike next week :-(
2. Spring training started. Baseball soon
3. Getting paid.

I had a really hard time thinking up my third like. I guess running might be on there but I missed two days this week so I would feel guilty putting that there. I do like this picture a lot though.

Dislikes:
1. Getting sick in class, again, not what you think. You don't want to think this this time.
2. Feeling tired
3. Chapped hands

We leave for Charleston in a week. I want to go so bad. I'll write more on preparing for that later.

Until next time,

Caroline

my uniform

When I don't know what to wear I'll most likely resort to my uniform. If I could I would wear some variation of this everyday. Unfortunately, I have to switch it up every now and then. You know, to keep the people happy. This is what it looks like:

I don't know what was happening to my face.

I am cold all the time so layering is key. If I'm not wearing 13 layers at once with socks on I will go into hypothermia. Ok, I won't but I do get cold easily. Wearing a collared shirt with a sweater overtop (cardigan or any type of sweater really) is the perfect way for me to stay comfy, warm, and sooooooo cute (the last one is a joke, relax). The shirt I have on is white with very small gray stripes from Forever 21. I probably wear it at least once a week. I got the sweater a long time ago from Target and it is pretty much the best color ever. If you read my TMI tag you will know that it is indeed my favorite. Down below I've got jeggings from PacSun on that are slowly losing their elasticity and even further down are my chukka boots from Steve Madden. Chukka boots are my boots. I would also wear them all day everyday if I could.

What's your uniform look like? Please don't tell me an orange jump suit...things would get weird.

Until next time,

Caroline

songs I like to run to playlist

I have been running a lot lately and I figured I would share my top 15 songs I like to listen to while I run. These songs have been helping me push through my 35-45 minute runs lately and they are also super catchy.

1. Run Boy Run - Woodkid, I definitely like to start off with this song. It has such an epic sound and just hearing the word run in there many times motivates the shiza out of me. It was also in Teen Wolf in an awesome scene so I just think of that too.
2. Rest of My Life - Ludacris ft. Usher and David Guetta
3. Clarity - Zedd ft. Foxes
4. Stay the Night - Zedd ft. Haley Williams
5. Pompeii (Krazy Kat Remix) - Bastile
6. Hey Brother - Avicii
7. Take Me Home - Cash Cash ft. Bebe Rexha
8. Love Takes Over - David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland
9. Raindrops - Basement Jaxx
10. Silenced by the Night (Alesso Remix) - Keane
11. The Night Out (Madeon Remix) - Martin Solveig
12. Sweet Nothing - Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch
13. Black Skinhead - Kanye West
14. Only You - Ellie Goulding
15. Boss Tide - Meek Mill and Beirut, this song is from a website called The Hood Internet, it's where alternate rock/folk rock/rock songs are mixed with hip hop songs. It's really awesome. This song in particular is awesome because it's not really fast or anything but it repeats "I'mma boss" about a million times and after I've run for that long I do indeed feel like a boss.

Those are some of my favorites. I have about a million more but those just really stick out to me. Maybe I'll make another playlist for something else sometime...hmmm...maybe.

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

TMI tag

I didn't know what to post about and I was watching YouTube and I watched this. I thought, "hey, you can just fill out that questionnaire (#tbt to myspace surveys. Man, I loved those)!!" She is a beauty guru (gooooorooooooo) so it works for makeup Tuesdays. There were 50 questions so I'm only going to answer the even questions. It is late and I am tired. SUE ME.

2: Ever been in love? Yes
4: How tall are you? 5'4"
6: Any tattoos? Narp
8: OTP? What the what...I still don't get this
10: Favourite bands? The Killers (always and forever even if I didn't really like their newest album), Vampire Weekend, Florence and the Machine, Lord Huron, idk there are lots more
12: Favourite song? This is really tough because there are a million bands I like. Classic: All These Things I've Done
14: Zodiac sign? Sagittarius
16: Favourite Quote? Hmmmmmmmmmm I like "there is beauty in everything just not everyone sees it"
18: Favourite color? any shade of purple
20: Where do you go when you're sad? just anywhere by myself
22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? not very long
24: Turn on? When someone is nice to everyone. Someone has to be nice and make an effort with my friends and my family.
26: The reason I joined Youtube? n/a
28: Last thing that made you cry? ugh Valentine's Day...
30: Meaning behind your Youtube Name? n/a
32: The book you're currently reading? Tinkers by Paul Harding
34: Last person you talked to? My roommate
36: Favourite food? It's between Korean bbq and fajitas haha
38: Last place you were? The bathroom? Campus?
40: Last time you kissed someone? Last night
42: Favourite flavour of sweet? what is this question
44: Favourite piece of jewellery? My quatrefoil earrings my mom got me from her trip to California two summers ago
46: Last song you sang? Oh...uh I was singing something earlier I know it...
48: Have you ever used it? Ok so this refers to the chat up line question and if I had to state my favorite chat up line it would be "Are you wearing space pants?" "uh...what? No...?" "Because your butt is out of this world!!" omg so great. Gets me every time. Have I used it? Well, sadly, not seriously...one day, though.

There you have it!!! And just like the good old days on myspace I still get extremely bored by the end of these. It's almost Wednesday, which is bad. I'm going to try and make a point of posting during the middle of the day and not close to the end.

I hope everyone had a good day and go watch House of Cards because it is so flipping good.

Until next time,

Caroline

my blog is 50 (tomorrow)

Tomorrow marks my 50th post which is scary and really cool. Scary because it means that the semester is probably about halfway done (probably, maybe, close to, idk) and really cool because I've stuck with blogging pretty well. I have missed a few days BUT only a few. I will pat myself on the back later for being a good beginner blogger. There have been a few problems I've discovered along the way while blogging almost everyday. The first is keeping it to myself. I don't think I can show my friends this. I don't really write anything personal but it feels personal. It's kind of like letting your friends read your research papers. Well, for me it seems like it. I'd be embarrassed if they thought it was bad or not researched well or something along those lines. The personal thing meshes into my next problem, what if I end up writing something personal and it hurts someone's feelings or reveals something someone didn't want to reveal? I probably won't be revealing anyone's deep dark secrets because no one I know really has any deep dark secrets but I could write something nasty about someone and then they see and that could not end well. The final problem I've discovered on this journey of navigating the blogosphere is what happens when I finally get to that day in May when my last semester ends...do I stop blogging? Is there a future for me and My Last Semester? I guess we will have to cross that bridge when we get to it. The suspense!

I probably won't write anything especially mean about anyone. I'm way too paranoid, as seen in the above paragraph, that someone will stumble upon this. Also, I'm not trying to end any friendships over a stupid blog. And another thing, my friends once found another friend's girlfriend's tumblr (friend's sister's cousin's dog's best friend's blah blah) and they mercilessly mocked her behind her back. I mercilessly mocked too! I don't want that to happen to me. Karma will find me, though. A note to my friends who find this in the future: please don't mercilessly mock me!!!! I am a fragile human.

On that note. I have to go run.

Until next time,

Caroline

a *real* busy day

I didn't post anything yesterday because I was busy literally all day. First, I had to get up early to get things out of the dryer. Then I went out to lunch and straight to a basketball game with my parents and sisters and cousin and other cousin's girlfriend. Then everyone left and my roommate, younger sister, and I went to Giant and to do another errand. Then we came back to my apartment, cleaned, and watched tv...I guess I could have posted then but I was entertaining so I decided not to. After that we ate dinner and not too long after that we went to our friend's house and then to another house and by the time we got back it was really late.

I am taking a break from Italian homework to write this post so I'm going to keep it short. I have two pictures that I liked a lot from last night with my roommate and sister. Here they are:

We actually went to the prom last night!

Twinning hard with my little sister who is actually taller than me...sad.

I hope everyone had a good weekend and Valentine's Day. Mine started off not so great and then became pretty awesome. It is nice to be around people who want you to be happy.

Until next time,

Caroline

Happy Valentine's Day!

Classes were cancelled today so this morning I decided to make a Valentine's Day gift/breakfast for my roommates. I bought flakey biscuits and turned them into donuts!!! It is so easy and so tasty! It is the perfect easy breakfast that everyone will enjoy.

Here are the steps:

1. Open the biscuit packaging. The place the uncooked biscuits on a cutting board.

2. With something circle shaped (really anything) put a hole through the biscuits (ooh donut shaped now).

3. Pour some canola oil onto a frying pan so that the oil covers the bottom of the pan. Put the pan on the stove with the heat on medium.

4. Put a few biscuits in the pan. Let them cook on one side for a few minutes then flip over when cooked side is golden brown.

5. After both sides are golden brown take out the donut and let cool on a plate. After it has cooled down cover in any kind of sugar you want. Get creative!!

And voila! You've got donuts! You could even call then cronuts if you're into that sort of thing.

I also made my roommates some cute Valentines. If you want to see here is my instagram !!!

Here are my likes and dislikes of the week:

Likes:
1. the punny Valentine's Day cards floating around the internet. We looked at a lot of those today and had a few good laughs
2. NYFW - I really liked a few of the shows from this week. My favorites were Tory Burch (not the shoes), Zac Posen, Marchesa, Jason Wu, and others
3. New running buddies

Dislikes:
1. Cramps
2. Pretty Little Liars (I don't not like the show, I actually really like it but the dialogue is SO STUPID and I get so embarrassed every time I watch it but I just can't stop watching it is the most addicting thing ever)
3. Previous gold medal Olympians getting 4th place or worse (it is hard to watch)

We got Thursday and today off from school so it's been a chill week. I am really excited for tomorrow, my parents and sisters are coming to visit me!!! More on that later.

Until next time,

Caroline

things I like to do when I'm alone

The semester has been really busy for me and my roommates so there are often times I find myself in the apartment alone. Alone time is when I recharge. I lean more towards the introvert side so I need alone time. I don't really want to get into the whole introvert/extrovert spiel, blah blah I'm not really that shy I just need alone time blah blah. Ok, so while I am by myself here are some things I've been doing this semester:

1. sing out loud, loud - I've always done this whilst being alone. I love to sing and I love to sing loudly. When my roommates aren't here I just sit in my bed or on the couch and just belt songs out. I'll just go through my Spotify playlists and sing whatever comes on.

2. play with makeup - I like to play with makeup. Sometimes it's weird when I try out a look and my roommate is in the room. I have to explain myself!

3. handstands - recently I've been doing a lot of handstands. That's another thing I'd have to try and explain...

4. write on here - I haven't told either of my roommates I started this blog so I've been trying hard to only write when they're not around. I don't know really why I haven't said anything because I don't write incriminating things on here but I guess it would be kind of weird to tell them now, a month and a half (or so) after I started it. I don't think they'd think it was weird but now that I've kept it from them it might seem weird. Does that make sense? If it doesn't I blame my sleepiness.

Those are just a few of the things I like to do when no one is in the room with me. If you do things like this, you're cool just like me!

Tomorrow I will post my outfit. I missed yesterday's post because of the snow and then friends came over and then we went out to our friend's house and time just flew by! Tomorrow will also be my second day off from school this week! Hallelujah!

I hope everyone is staying warm!

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

no makeup makeup??

Sometimes going to class doesn't require makeup. Like my running class. I don't think anyone cares at all if there is any makeup on my face. There are two boys in my class (I'm not saying I have to try to impress any boys or that me wearing makeup actually impresses any boys, oh stop. You know what I'm trying to say). One has a very pretty girlfriend in the class and the other I don't think would like me like that even if I looked like the most beautiful girl in the world, get what I'm saying?

Unfortunately, I have two (three on Thursdays) other classes on the days I run so I like to not look like a complete slob. To do this I must take on the no makeup makeup look. The no makeup makeup look, you ask? How do you do this? Well, I'll tell ya! It is putting on makeup to make it look like you're not wearing makeup!! What's the point then, you ask? Well, I do not have perfect skin. Actually, I have bad skin. I won't deny it. I'm not confident enough to go out into the world with my uneven skin tone, blackheads, and other blemishes showing. I am insecure. I admit it! I like to cover up the blemishes with a light foundation and then go over it with concealer. Even if I'm trying for a makeup makeup look I'll try to blend out everything I put on so it doesn't look cake-y but I especially do it if it is for a no makeup makeup look. After concealer I will powder where I apply concealer then where I normally get oily. This pertains to my T-zone area (the forehead and down the nose, making a T shape, ooooh). I even take this no makeup makeup look a step further and apply mascara. I think it makes me look more awake than I probably am. To add a wee bit more awakeness to my face if I really need it I will add a nude colored eyeliner to my bottom waterline. My favorite is from Rimmel. I wrote about it before.

That is what I do if I want to achieve my no makeup makeup look. I will have to be replacing my foundation soon because I might be running out of mine soon. I'll have to be on the search for a new one. I'm thinking about making the change to a BB cream when that happens. If I end up loving it I will definitely write about it here.

I feel like my life is being run by the Olympics and I am not hating it. I do hate that people like to post big things before they happen on television with the huge time difference. I don't want to know these things beforehand!!

I hope no one has spoiled anything for you today.

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

magnificent mugs

This weekend my friend came over to the apartment and my roommate and I decorated ceramic mugs with water-resistant paint pens. We also watched the Olympics while decorating, it was so much fun. We had gone to Hobby Lobby and (our new favorite store) And That! to get the supplies. We picked up 6 or 7 pens and then two mugs each. My roommate picked up an extra mug in case she made a mistake but we learned that nail polish remover got off the paint no problem! This craft was fool-proof. I found a quote on Pinterest that I liked a lot so for my first mug I tried my hardest to recreate that. My second mug I decided to copy a drawing of the Eiffel Tower from a stationary set I had and then draw Parisian apartment buildings around it. It turned out really nice.

Here is the quote mug:

And here is the Eiffel Tower mug:

I only bought one pen so I kept things pretty monochromatic and I liked the way it ended up looking. I was thinking about just using a black pen but my other roommate as a white mug with the same colored bronze-y gold color C and I thought the color looked so nice with the white mug. Maybe I have a future in mug design.

If we decide to make any more crafts I will post about them here! I know what I'm going to do for Valentine's Day for my roommates which should be pretty cool. If they end up looking nice I'll post a few pictures.

ALSO, I got 100% on my Italian quiz/test thing. My professor wrote "brava!!" on it. :-)

I hope everyone had a good start to the week,

Until next time,

Caroline

the worst pain you will ever feel

The title of this post kind of makes it seem like it will be all deep and emotional but really when I say the worst pain you will ever feel I mean menstrual cramps. So this doesn't apply at all to my male readers. I got my period today (tmi, I know) so I got the first wave of horrible cramps that accompany my period. They are normally really bad the first day or the second day of the week. This time hopefully it was just for the first day. Oh my goodness. This must have been my worst one to date. I was crying, feeling nauseous, and other bad stuff was happening but I won't go into those details (that would have been waaaaaay tmi).

My roommates get cramps, obviously, but I don't think they are ever that bad. I don't mean to sound like a drama queen but I think I get the worst cramps in the world. I wonder if there is a way to measure how bad the cramp is because if there is I might be able to set a world record. Call up the people at the Guinness World Record's because that title belongs to me. They are horribly painful and last a long time. There is one upside to this! I'm not totally clueless when I get my period. I'll start to get a cramp in a specific place and I'll know it's coming. It is good that I know it's coming but it's bad when I'm in the middle of class and I realize it and then I realize I don't have any sanitary products. Wow this post is chalk full of tmi's.

Today was just so bad and I'll probably do some research to find out how I can alleviate them better for next time. Probably the worst part about menstrual cramps: they will always come. Ugh.

I hope everyone's day wasn't as painful as mine.

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

surprise!!!

Here is a surprise post of what lip products are in my backpack. I sometimes have more than just these three which is a little embarrassing because why? Is it necessary? No, not really. These three are my current most used lip products so it is a little understandable why they're in my backpack now.

I already spoke about two of them but here they are!

First I have my Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle. This is my all time favorite lip product. It is such a nice, subtle, "my lips but slightly darker and better" color and is very moisturizing. I recommend it to everyone. Going up to the right I have my Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose Kiss. It smells nice, it is moisturizing, I like it a lot. I just wish it wasn't as tinted as it is. It turns my lips a lighter pink shade, which I don't really mind but I'd prefer to have a clear lip balm. I still recommend though. Lastly there is the Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It is a beautiful color and applies nicely to the lips. I just wish it was a tad bit more moisturizing.

There ya have it. What lip products are in my backpack at the moment. I wish I had better lighting in here. The colors in the picture are a bit weird.

I hope everyone is having a nice Saturday,

Until next time,

Caroline

Olympics, Bob Costas, and donuts

Last night were the opening ceremonies for the Olympics! I love the olympics. I love the winter Olympics. I love Bob Costas! I love the opening ceremonies! My roommates and I sat around our television and watched the whole thing. It felt like some random parts took forever but I was kind of loving it. Before it all started we took a trip to Giant to buy donuts. Many people have been posting pictures on the internet of donuts and we were having major cravings. We justified buying them that late because they were pretty much the most American dessert (after apple pie, of course) and we have to support our country!

I thought the sets and costumes and music and everything was beautiful. The only big flub up was the 5th ring in the beginning not opening. Oops. Other than that I thought the ceremonies were amazing. There was one part towards the end I was a little confused about but it was still pretty cool. They played music from Tron, c'mon! There was also music from Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky and ballerinas and ah I love it!

The teams walking out seemed to go a lot quicker than I remembered. I guess things that seem like they took forever as a younger kid don't seem to take that long as an older person. There were also a lot of countries I've never heard about before...my roommates felt the same so I didn't feel too bad about not knowing.

I'm really excited for the next two weeks. Sports on all the time! American pride! Figure skating! Ah, the Olympics are just so magical and AWESOME.

Do you love the Olympics too?

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

I made the move

Happy Friday! Today I was feeling extra snazzy so I switched it up a bit and moved my part to the middle. Every so often I do this and will feel like anything is possible. The middle part is magical. My sister and I send snapchats of the middle part to each other because no matter what anyone says we know we can pull it off. One time a friend of mine actually told me that I looked better with a side part. He said that he hated when girls tried to do the middle part. Whatever. I can work it and I do. This picture actually looks like it is more of a middle-side part.

Me, smizing, naturally.

I also got an email this week saying that a company (eh organization? I'm not really sure what to call it) wanted to have a second interview with me in-person. I had a phone interview earlier in the week and I guess it went well. Maybe they just wanted to put a face to a crazy person's voice. Ha! I'm not actually crazy. Oh god, this is Shutter Island all over again. Who can you really trust?? Are you crazy or not?? Well now I definitely sound crazy. Anyway, it is for an internship this summer and it sounds pretty cool. Also, the woman who interviewed me went to the same college as me!

I had my first Italian quiz today and I think I did molto bene! We will probably get them back graded by Monday so I will keep everyone posted.

Here are my likes and dislikes of the week:

Likes:
1. the magic of the middle part
2. breakfast (I have a great recipe I should post about sometime)
3. Yoga

Dislikes:
1. not responding to emails

my style icon

I've never really had a "style icon" before. I've thought people dressed really cool and had great wardrobes but I never found one person where I fawned over every single picture taken of them. Then I got Pinterest. Then I saw the many many pictures of Olivia Palermo. Then I just knew...she is my style icon. I knew who she was because I was lame and watched the City and loved all of the stupid drama and the cute model boys. Not that model girl though, she cried too much. When I say someone cries too much, well, that says something. I thought she was really dumb and I thought she had nice hair but I never thought she had the coolest style ever. Well the million pictures on Pinterest changed my mind. She has quite possibly the best style (imho of course) of anyone in the history of the world*. I never saw a picture where she wasn't impeccably dressed. Maybe she has a stylist, maybe she doesn't, I don't know. All I know is that I want to wear everything she wears the way she wears them. Is that creepy? Well, I'm sure she's used to it by now. Hey Olivia, I'm sorry I'm weirdly obsessed with your style. You can hand down anything you don't want anymore to me. Thank you.

Here are some of my favorite shots of her:

If I dressed like this it could be winter all year round and I wouldn't care. Because I would be FABULOUS.

Ugh, you have great taste in clothes and great taste in men.

I think I am going to change my wardrobe to all black. Only colorful accessories.

From my favorite Burberry Prorsum fashion show, with a middle part, in an amazing jacket. That sounds like an answer in Clue.

So there ya go. My homage to my style icon Olivia Palermo. Keep doing you girl and I will keep loving you. One day I hope to only wear clothes as fabulous as these.

I hope everyone had a good day and until next time,

Caroline

* so of course there are those fabulous historical people like the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti and Audrey Hepburn and Marie Antoinette but I'm just trying to prove a point, ok??

February 2.0 Spotify playlist

I just made my Spotify playlist for February. It is nothing new to me really but they were songs I really started to like at the end of January and I didn't want to add them to the January playlist. Everything starts off with Tom Odell whom I heard play at the Fall/Winter 2013 Burberry Prorsum fashion show (I wasn't there watching but I saw it on YouTube). He has an amazing voice. His song Another Love is in like 15 playlists and I just do not get sick of it. Not too long ago I decided to listen to something else by him and the first song I heard was called Can't Pretend. It's so good. I think he is an English musical genius.

There are other bands on here that are awesome. One day I hope to learn how to get a link to the playlist or something like that. Go take a listen to these songs!!

Will I ever spell February right the first time? No.

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

my January favorites

I guess the first Tuesday of each month will be my "favorites" post. In these posts I will recall my favorite makeup items I had been loving for the previous month. This month I only have four products which doesn't seem like that many but this will still be a long post because there are pictures for everything. Woo, we all love pictures. Let's get started.

1. First I have my sample of Roses de ChloƩ. It smells so nice. I wrote about it in a previous post so you can go back and read that if you want more information. I'm sad it's so little and will be gone soon.

more like good smells de Caroline when I wear this

2. Next I loved the Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm (phew that is a mouthful) in the shade Rose Twist. I wore it to my Casino Senior Countdown night and thought it paired so nicely with my smokey eyes. It is a little pinker than a "my lips but better" shade but it is definitely not obnoxiously pinker. The only thing I don't really like is the old lady smell of the product. That is kind of gross. I still want to try more of these!

this picture is a little edited so the color is a little off...oops

3. My next favorite is the Wake Me Up concealer by Rimmel. I watch a lot of British YouTubers and they all love the Wake Me Up foundation. I am super bummed Rimmel hasn't released the foundation over here but I was tickled to see the concealer in Wegman's. It has a creamy consistency and covers the dark inner portion of my eyes nicely. It also has a slight shimmer in it so it is quite brightening as well. I don't think it would be too nice to cover up blemishes.

So wake me up when the foundation gets to America

4. Last, but not least, my favorite makeup product of January (and probably of all time) was Benefit's They're Real! mascara. Wow!!!! How have I not tried this before? I think I can confidently say that this is the best mascara ever created. It must have unicorn magic or crack in it or something. This stuff does not clump and lengthens like nobody's business. It is a little on the wet side but doesn't smudge or flake or anything. Also, the wand is genius. I love the spiky end. Perfect for those end lashes. A+++++++ Benefit!

I can't stop fluttering my lashes when I've got this on...people'll start to think I'm trying to flirt with them

There ya have it, folks! My favorite makeup items of the month of January. This is kind of fun. I am excited to see what I like in February. Stay tuned!

Until next time,

Caroline

taste is relative

The other day I got kind of upset because my roommate didn't want to watch a show I suggested to her to watch (this isn't the roommate pictured below). I was a little offended because I think I have good taste in television and it seemed like she didn't want to listen to my suggestion so instead she just decided to watch something else that I thought wasn't as good. I didn't say I thought it wasn't as good because that would have been snobby (I got a little snobby later, just wait for it) but I was definitely thinking it.

I talked to my mom about it later and she said to me that "taste is relative". She told me that sometimes people want to try new things and sometimes they aren't in the mood. After she said that I felt bad for thinking what she wanted to watch wasn't good enough. I have a problem where if something doesn't look good to me I will just think it's bad and if I like something then I just assume that it is fact that whatever it is is really good.

Well, this is where things get snobby on my end. Yesterday the same roommate asked if we wanted to see "That Awkward Moment" sometime soon and it turned out my other roommate already went to see it while the first roommate was gone (are you confused yet?). She was a little offended that they didn't wait for her to get back because she was talking about it earlier. She then looked at me because I hadn't seen it yet. I said to her I didn't want to see it because it got 23% on Rotten Tomatoes (actually 22%). They both thought it was dumb that I didn't want to see it because critics thought it wasn't good. Ok, ok, let me just say in my defense the trailer didn't make the movie look that good to me. I like Zac Efron but I don't like him $12 worth to see him in a sappy (and probably pretty dumb) "bro-mantic" comedy. My roommate who saw it said that she liked it and that it was worth seeing so that should be enough reason for me to go see it. I don't agree with her but I didn't say anything. There are somethings that we have very similar taste in and there are lots of things we don't have similar taste in.

That's just it, taste is relative. It is different from person to person. My roommate loves country music while I can only tolerate a small bit of it. I like to run (eh) and she doesn't ever ever ever want to run for the sake of running. We both like Brooklyn 99, Hawaiian pizza, and Lana del Rey. Everyone's taste is relative. There is not really a reason to say that something I like is better or more interesting than something she likes and vice versa. My mom is a very wise woman, I should always remember that. So she liked the movie and in the end I probably won't ever see it. No one is at fault! Also, I am broke, remember??

I hope everyone keeps that in mind and has a good day!

Until tomorrow,

Caroline

it's the Super Bowl!

Normally on Super Bowl Sunday there would be more people watching with me and much more food but alas, today it is just me and a Hawaiian pizza. I'm not too torn up about it. I'm pretty content.

I'm not really rooting for either team. I like Russell Wilson (he was offered money to play for the Orioles!) and I like Peyton Manning but really, I don't care about football this year. I guess I care enough to watch the game though. I don't know, it's just something you HAVE to watch. Kind of like the Oscars even if you haven't seen any movies nominated. Although, if you haven't seen any movies nominated in any of the categories then what are you doing with you life??

I spent maybe two hours working on Italian and another 45 minutes reading The Fortress of Solitude so I needed a break. Watching two random teams play each other works for me! My roommate and I decided if she gets back from her dance rehearsal before halftime we would go to our friend's house to watch the rest of it. Works for me too!

Whatever happens to me I hope everyone had a good weekend and a good Super Bowl Sunday!

Until next time,

Caroline

100 days left!

Last night was our "Senior Countdown Casino Night" where we celebrated 100 days until graduation. What. SO SOON! It was a really fun event where we all got dressed up in cocktail attire and played poker and blackjack. My college did a really good job setting that up. Afterwards, well I didn't have the best time. I won't go into details but the night ended in tears pretty much. I haven't cried like that in a really long time and I am a little embarrassed that I did. I think things will be ok. It will all blow over soon.

Here is the only picture I took on my phone from Senior Countdown:

On the left is my roommate, in the center is my old roommate, and on the right is me!

So since I missed Friday's post here are the week's likes and dislikes!

Likes:
1. Getting dressed up in cocktail attire...and boys in cocktail attire
2. Spinach artichoke dip
3. Covergirl's crayon balm thingy in Rose Twist

Dislikes:
1. Crying in front of people I don't normally cry in front of
2. Only 99 days of school left
3. Warmer weather teases

Let's hope I keep my cool for the rest of the semester.

Until next time,

Caroline
